Bangkok at Your Own Pace

Three routes for travelers who love exploring the city through coffee, food and places with history.
01 / Coffee and Design
Start your morning at Roots at theCOMMONS, a café focused on Thai beans in Thonglor.
theCOMMONS Thonglor is worth exploring in its own right: several levels of cafés and open spaces where you can linger without a plan.
For dinner, save Khao on Soi Ekkamai 10 for Thai cuisine in a more intimate setting. The restaurant is listed in the Michelin Guide.
02 / Food and the City
Start with lunch at Baan Khanitha on Sukhumvit 23: traditional Thai dishes in a relaxed setting and a good introduction to the Asok area.
After lunch, slow down at Benjakitti Forest Park, with walking paths, a lake and a pause among the city’s high-rises.
Leave your evening on Sukhumvit open: drop into small cafés and shops as you go.
03 / Temples and the River
Start at Pak Khlong Talat, the old city’s flower market. Its stalls offer a glimpse of everyday Bangkok before you reach the major temples.
Then visit Wat Pho and cross the Chao Phraya to Wat Arun. Two banks, two styles of architecture and a short trip on the water.
Leave time simply to enjoy the river. This route is best taken without rushing.
